Enjuris is proud to congratulate Tom Murphy Sr., founder and senior partner of Enjuris Partner Murphy Law Firm, on receiving the 2026 Montana Trial Lawyers Association Career Achievement Award.
The MTLA Career Achievement Award is a prestigious lifetime honor recognizing Montana trial lawyers whose careers have made an enduring impact on the citizens of Montana and the practice of law. Unlike awards focused on a single year of achievement, it reflects a sustained record of superior advocacy over the course of a career, along with leadership, mentorship, service to the profession, and a commitment to advancing the rights of victims and consumers.
For Murphy, that career has spanned more than four decades.
A graduate of the University of Montana Law School, Murphy founded Great Falls-based Murphy Law Firm in 1998 after more than a decade in litigation practice. He has represented thousands of injured Montanans in workers’ compensation and personal injury matters and has litigated cases in both state and federal courts. He also co-founded the Workers’ Compensation Section of MTLA and served on the organization’s Board of Directors.
Introducing his father at the award ceremony, attorney Tom Murphy Jr. pointed not only to his father’s courtroom accomplishments, but also to his willingness to help other lawyers throughout his career.

Murphy’s work on behalf of injured Montanans has also earned recognition from national legal organizations. He has served with the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group and became the first Montana attorney inducted as a Fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers. He has also received MTLA’s Appellate Advocacy Award for precedent-setting constitutional cases involving protections for injured workers.
During his acceptance speech, however, Murphy focused less on awards and courtroom victories than on the people he has represented.
After decades of practicing law, speaking around the country and handling thousands of claims, Murphy told the audience that the true “pinnacle” of the profession was sitting across from an injured person whose livelihood or family had been upended.

He later described meeting with those clients as “the highlight of the career” and “the thing I miss the most.”
That philosophy remains central to Murphy Law Firm, which represents injured people throughout Montana in workers’ compensation, personal injury, wrongful death and Social Security disability matters. The firm’s attorneys have more than 75 years of combined experience and exclusively represent injured people rather than insurance companies or corporations.
