When an accident happens, it can turn your life upside down in an instant.

And while there are plenty of resources available to help you through the tough spots, you have to find them in order for them to be useful. If you’re recovering from an injury or caring for a loved one who’s been injured, the last thing you want to do is spend hours searching for the information you need.

The lists below include a variety of California resources for medical treatment and recovery, financial recovery, and legal options.

The California DOR offers supported living services, community reintegration services, vocational support, information and referrals for individuals or families, and training and education programs.

Family Caregiver Alliance: This is a national organization that provides a list of resources in California.

California Rehabilitation Institute: Provides TBI rehabilitation programs in an inpatient setting, along with rehabilitation for strokes, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic and limb loss injuries.

CalHOPE Peer-Run Warm Line: Call 833-317-HOPE (4673) Monday – Friday, from 7 am to 11 pm, for COVID-19 specific non-emergency support.

California Warm Peer Line: Call 855-845-7415 for 24/7 for non-emergency support to talk to a peer counselor with lived experience.

Medi-Cal Managed Care and Mental Health Office of the Ombudsman: Call 888-452-8609 Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, for mental health services covered by Medi-Cal.
